OakTree Coach&Consult goes LIVE!
OakTree Coach&Consult website is finally live and with a deep sense of gratitude and pride, the world gets to see the symbolic identity of the business for the first time also. Before going further into the launch and the reveal, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge something that is very close to my heart and being.
Today marks the end of NAIDOC Week 2020. I feel it is not only my duty to acknowledge but I feel privileged that I get to walk, live and practise my skill and art form on this land. I want to take a moment to acknowledge that this business has come to being on a land whose traditional owners are the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation and express my heartfelt gratitude to the First Nations people and pay my respects to the past, present and emerging elders of the community.
This land “Always Was, Always Will Be” Aboriginal land.
Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
I set on my path on this road of starting my own venture just about a year ago, registering as a sole trader on 12th November 2019. Anyone starting a new business is aware of the hard work ahead of them starting their own venture, as did I. However, what a time to start a new business, months before the biggest existential crisis our generation has experienced. In the last 12 months, here in Victoria, we have spent more time under social restrictions than we have had the opportunity to interact freely with the external world. Consequently, how I envisioned my work and business would flourish had been challenged. However, I consider myself lucky to have grieved the loss of my way of life and vision rather than grieving the loss of loved ones to the pandemic. With that being noted, it is such a relief that life is starting to show some semblance of normality once again. As I launch my website and business identity, there is an undeniable excitement within me to see where this new venture takes me in the next phase of my personal and professional evolution.
In April 2020, I launched the social media presence of OakTree Coach&Consult under the guise of Wellbeing Coach. The following months of restrictions, discovery and learning, I recognized that Wellbeing Coach was not how my work was emerging and as such, in September I wrote about letting go of that identity and a that new one would be announced soon.
Since then, I have been lucky to have the support of three individuals that I feel indebted to that I have been able to work with to get to this point of having the logo brought to life and the website structure formulated. The website, as you will all note does not feature much right at this moment, this is intentional. My intention is to grow the website as I share more about my practise over time. Such has been one of the benefits of social restrictions, the realisation that a slow approach can certainly enrich my experience of life. For someone, who has always lived a fast paced life and excelled amidst high activity and pressure, steadying my pace is definitely been one of the subtle, nuanced gifts that I have discovered due to the pandemic.
My heartfelt gratitude to the individuals who have shown faith in my ability to seek my services and remained engaged in the work, both in my therapeutic and consulting practise; which I am glad to state has continued to grow steadily with a significant increase in the last month. I hope that as I release more about my practise on this platform, more folks gain a clearer understanding what kind of support one can expect engaging with OakTree Coach&Consult that hopefully grows this tiny sprout to a healthy strong Oak.
I leave you with my final remarks announcing the title I have chosen for the therapeutic practise of the business “Whole-Self Coaching”. More will be posted soon to explain what the term means to me, what it is aiming to communicate to others and what has influenced it’s emergence.
